Australian Prime Minister, Julia Gillard, and Opposition Leader, Tony Abbott, had to be extracted from a restaurant near Parliament House as angry protesters banged on the glass.

Supporters of the Aboriginal Tent Embassy in Canberra picketed the Lobby restaurant over comments by Mr Abbott this morning that the tent embassy should close.

Kim Dotcom’s bodyguard in court on firearms charge

The man who listed David Beckham and the Royal Family of Brunei among his clients has appeared in court on a firearms charge.

Wayne Phillip Tempero had been head of security for Kim Dotcom at his $30 million Coatesville mansion and was arrested after an FBI-led raid on the property.

The 55-year-old appeared in North Shore District Court this morning charged with unlawful possession of a pistol

SFO lays 96 charges against Rockforte Finance directors

The Serious Fraud Office has laid a total of 92 criminal charges against the three directors of failed Gisborne finance company Rockforte Finance, which collapsed with deposits guaranteed by the Crown retail deposit guarantee scheme and whose receivership is likely to cost the taxpayer the thick end of $3.5 million

Security staff keep watch on Occupy Auckland following day of evictions

Security guards remain at Auckland’s Aotea Square this morning keeping watch over Occupy protesters who have reclaimed the spot overnight.

Around a dozen fresh tents were erected overnight, but the early morning mood was quiet compared to yesterday’s rowdy removal of the Occupy Auckland camp with just a handful of security guards on duty.
